Hey guys, Nont here! Today I’m taking you on a quick hop from Bangkok (Suvarnabhumi Airport) to Hong Kong with Cathay Pacific Flight CX702 in Economy Class.
The flight takes about 2 hours and 45 minutes. We departed BKK at around 7:15 PM (Thai time) and touched down in Hong Kong at 11:00 PM local time. If you’re planning a trip to HK soon, here’s what you can expect!
🕒 Check-in & Gate Experience
The check-in counters opened at 4:15 PM and closed at 6:15 PM. As always, I highly recommend arriving about 3 hours early just to be safe.
A quick heads-up about the boarding gate: for my flight, the gate was super far away! Plus, the waiting area at the gate was a bit cramped and there weren’t enough seats for everyone, meaning a lot of us had to stand while waiting to board.
- My Pro Tip: If you’re not in a rush, just chill in the main area upstairs where there are plenty of seats. Wait until they officially announce boarding, then head down to the gate. Trust me, it’ll save you from sore legs!
✈️ The Aircraft: Boeing 777-300
For this route, we flew on the Boeing 777-300. It’s a massive, twin-aisle long-haul aircraft. Because of the high ceilings, the cabin feels incredibly spacious and airy. No claustrophobia here!
💺 How’s the Seat?
I’m 177 cm tall, and I have to say, the legroom was fantastic! I could stretch my legs comfortably. The seats on this aircraft model are genuinely some of my favorites—they don’t feel cramped at all.
They provide a pillow, a blanket, a basic travel kit, and headphones. The headphones are pretty standard for Economy (I’d give them a 6/10), but they get the job done and are comfortable to wear. The best part? The seat has a fully adjustable headrest that you can shape to support your neck. Overall, I’d rate the seat a solid 9/10.
🎬 In-Flight Entertainment (IFE)
The touchscreen monitor is large and super responsive. The movie selection is top-notch! They have Hollywood blockbusters, Hong Kong movies (with English subtitles), and even a great selection of Disney movies.
Besides movies, you can listen to music, play games, or listen to podcasts. My favorite feature? The tail camera! You can watch the outside view from the plane’s tail, which is a fun way to kill time.
🍱 Let’s Talk About the Food!
About 30 minutes after takeoff, the cabin crew started serving meals. I have a little confession: I had a bit of a miscommunication when ordering, so I only got to try the Chicken Stir-fry. (My bad! 😅)
But honestly, it was delicious! I’d give the taste an 8/10. The meal came with bread, salted butter, a fresh fruit salad to balance the richness, and the highlight… Strawberry Häagen-Dazs ice cream! Eating premium ice cream while watching a good movie at 30,000 feet? Pure bliss.
✨ The Vibe & Final Thoughts
Even though this aircraft model has been around for a while, Cathay Pacific takes incredible care of it. The cabin looks fresh, the screens are upgraded, and the plane is spotless. I have to give the overall cabin atmosphere a perfect 10/10.
Because it’s a big, well-maintained plane, the ride was incredibly smooth. The engine noise was super quiet, and I didn’t even get ear-pops during takeoff or landing!
To sum it up: If you’re heading to Hong Kong or catching a connecting flight, Cathay Pacific is a fantastic choice. The Boeing 777-300 is super comfortable and definitely won’t disappoint.
Wishing you all safe travels and a very Merry Christmas! Thank you so much for dropping by to read my review. 😊
