DiDi from Pudong Airport to Shanghai Disneyland: Cost & Travel Time

Travel blog Shanghai about 5 min read

If you’re planning a trip to Shanghai Disneyland but aren’t sure how to get there from Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG), I’d like to share my experience using DiDi.

For this trip, I decided to take a DiDi Premium ride from Pudong Airport to Shanghai Disneyland. The price was around 110 CNY (approximately 600 THB), and I got a Maxus 9 minivan.

I think it’s a pretty convenient option, especially if you’re traveling with family or carrying large suitcases.

My Experience Taking DiDi from Pudong Airport

Booking a DiDi is quite easy. You can use the DiDi service directly through Alipay after linking your credit or debit card.

At Pudong Airport, there’s a designated pickup area for ride-hailing services.

During my visit, the pickup point was around Level B2. After passing through immigration and collecting your luggage, you can follow the signs for the meeting or pickup point.

I’d recommend checking the pickup location shown in your DiDi app as well, just to make sure you’re heading to the right place.

For my trip, I booked a DiDi Premium ride for around 110 CNY, and the journey took approximately 20 minutes.

I think that’s pretty fast, especially after a long flight.

Since I booked a Premium ride, the driver was dressed quite nicely in a suit, and the car itself was clean and comfortable.

However, one thing I noticed was the smell of cigarettes inside the car.

The driver also kept the air conditioning off quite a bit and opened the windows instead.

If you’re sensitive to cigarette smells, this might be something to keep in mind. Bringing a small nasal inhaler could help a little, especially if the driver has recently smoked.

Apart from that, I think the overall ride was pretty good.

How to Set Your Destination in DiDi

Another thing I want to share is how to find your destination when booking a DiDi.

Sometimes, searching for a hotel or attraction in the app might not show the exact location you’re looking for.

If that happens, I’d recommend using Amap to search for the destination first.

You can check the location on the map or copy the Chinese name of the place and paste it into DiDi.

This can make things a little easier, especially when traveling in China for the first time.

You can download Amap here:

Just make sure the destination pin is correct before confirming your ride.

Is DiDi from Pudong Airport to Shanghai Disneyland Worth It?

For me, I think taking DiDi from Pudong Airport to Shanghai Disneyland is definitely worth considering.

I paid around 110 CNY (approximately 600 THB) for a Premium ride, and the trip took only about 20 minutes.

Of course, the price and travel time can vary depending on traffic, the type of car you choose, and when you travel.

But if you’re traveling with several people, I think it’s a pretty good deal.

You don’t have to carry your luggage through multiple train transfers, and you’ll still have plenty of energy left to enjoy Disneyland or explore the area after arriving.

What About Taking the Metro Instead?

If you want to save money, taking the metro is another option.

Based on the fares when I visited, the train cost around 5–10 CNY per person, which is much cheaper than taking DiDi.

However, depending on your route, you may need to change trains a few times.

If you’re traveling with large suitcases or staying at one of the Disneyland hotels, getting to your hotel from the train station might also require some extra walking or another transfer.

But if you’re traveling light and don’t mind taking the train, I think it’s a good option too.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I think DiDi is one of the easiest ways to get from Shanghai Pudong Airport to Shanghai Disneyland, especially if you’re traveling with family or carrying a lot of luggage.

The car I got was clean, the driver was well-dressed, and the ride felt safe and comfortable overall.

The only things I’d recommend watching out for are the cigarette smell and any unexpected charges. It’s always a good idea to check the final fare in the app after your ride.

Apart from that, I think it’s a very convenient way to travel.

For me, paying around 110 CNY to avoid carrying suitcases through several train transfers was worth it.
